Agency health check

Adjust, resetor review.Know which.

A short, fixed-fee check of your agency relationship: results, team, skills, fees, transparency and fit. You find out whether the relationship needs a tune-up, a reset or a full review, before anyone spends six months on a pitch.

Most agency relationships drift. Few fail overnight.

The business changes. The platforms change. The team you hired three years ago was built for a different job. Fees roll over while the work moves to new channels, and the senior people from the pitch quietly move on.

A full review is expensive for everyone, and it freezes the marketing team for months. Most of the time the honest answer is a reset, not a pitch. The health check tells you which one you need, with evidence your CFO can follow.

What we look at
01

Results

Performance against the measures you agreed, in a form finance accepts.

02

Team

Who actually works on your business, how senior they are and how much has changed since the pitch.

03

Skills

Whether the team is trained on the platforms you now use: AI search, retail and commerce media, CTV and AI planning tools.

04

Scope and fees

Whether the fee still matches the work, and who keeps the hours automation saves.

05

Transparency

Principal media disclosed and approved, rebates reported, audit rights you can use.

06

Fit

Whether the roles match what the business needs next year. More strategy, less execution, or roles that did not exist last time.

How it works

Two to three weeks. One clear answer.

Independent of the agency. We are paid by clients only.

01

The agency agreement, scope, fee schedule, staffing plan and the last two quarters of reporting.

02

Conversations

Short interviews with your marketing, finance and procurement leads, and a working session with the agency.

03

Benchmark

Fees, staffing and terms read against current market practice and the contract clauses that matter in 2027.

04

Verdict

Adjust, reset or review, with the specific changes, a draft letter to the agency and a 90-day plan.

If the answer is review

We write the internal brief first: why you are reviewing, scope with spend attached, the fee model, the terms you will not trade and the scoring weights. Then we run the search from shortlist to signed contract, or support your team while they run it.

Common questions

Straight answers.

What is an agency health check?

A short, independent review of an agency relationship covering results, team, skills, fees, transparency and fit. It ends with a clear call: adjust the relationship, reset it, or run a full review.

How often should we check our agency relationship?

Once a year, with a contract and principal media audit every year or two. A full competitive review only when the check says the relationship cannot be fixed or the business has changed shape.

Does the agency know we are doing this?

It works best when they do. We include a working session with the agency, and a good partner welcomes the chance to fix things before a pitch.

What does it cost?

A fixed fee, quoted up front, set by the number of agencies and markets in scope.

Send us the agency agreement and the latest reporting. We will tell you within a day what the check would cover and when you would have the answer.
